Child development is the process that encompasses the physical, cognitive, social and emotional development of a child from birth to adulthood. This process consists of two main components:

1.      Growth: This refers to physical changes and increases in body size, such as height, weight, and organ development. This growth is quantitative and can be measured objectively.

2.      Development: This includes qualitative changes in a child's abilities and skills, such as motor, language, cognitive, social, and emotional development. Development is more difficult to measure as it involves changes in the way children think, feel and interact with the world around them.

In general, child development is influenced by genetic factors, environment, nutrition, health, and social and emotional interactions. This process takes place in certain stages that children must go through to achieve optimal abilities according to their age. Regular monitoring of children's growth and development is essential to ensure that children develop according to their stages and to identify and treat potential problems early.

Child development covers various aspects of a child's physical, cognitive, social and emotional development from birth to adulthood.
